THE PROBLEM

For Total Wine employees, creating wine tasting surveys are pretty complicated, and need a digital system to manage notes and enhance the tasting experience.

OBJECTIVES

THE SOLUTION

Building a tool to allow Total Wine employees to prepare surveys and help them track and record all aspects of tasting wines. Enhance customer's wine tasting experience and help them better understand their preferences.

Introducing

A dual user and company application for Total Wine employees to create a digital survey to collect wine tasting notes.

THE PERSONA

Jack

is a clerk at Total Wine.

His manager, Tom, assigned him to collect notes for several new wines. At the same time, he needs to track and record all aspects of wine tasting.

USER FLOW

Let's create a survey!

Step 01: Change the default setting

Eight clients come to Total Wine to take a wine tasting survey. Jack prepares five bottles of wine for them.

Step 02: Send a survey via email

Before sending a survey to attendees, Jack has to verify the attendees' ID. The next step is serving wine samples and inviting them to do the survey. The maximum attendee in one survey is 16.

Digital notes 

All questions in the survey are presented in a digital way. Attendees have access to wine information before tasting.

Easy interactions 

It is very easy for attendees to figure out each question for the intuitive interface and easy interaction.  

High flexibility 

Attendees are able to skip a question or skip a wine if they have no idea about the current question and wine. 

Monitor the status of a survey

Check the status of attendees 

This is a monitor UI, total wine staff can check the survey status of each client, and know their favorite wine, their preferences, and recommendations. Besides, the manager could generally see the general status from the diagram which is based on clients' notes.

What I learnt

WINOTE is a product designed for a wine company, not customers. Thus, I pay more attention to tell my clients how WINOTE functions and its practical features, and convince them that my solution is suitable and perfect. The challenging thing is how to make sure WINOTE indeed releases Total Wine staff's pain points of conducting a wine tasting survey. To overcome this challenge, I went to talk with the staff in-store and took feedback. Also, it is essential to keep iterating WINOTE.
